ManTech joins team collaborating on airborne threat detection
Five companies have formed a partnership to meet the heightened security monitoring needs for airborne chemical, biological and radiological agents in the United States.
A division of ManTech International Corp., Fairfax, Va., is one of five companies that have formed a partnership to meet the heightened security monitoring needs for airborne chemical, biological and radiological agents in the United States.
In addition to ManTech Environmental Technology Inc., Durham, N.C., the group consists of Arcadis Inc., Denver; Rupprecht and Patashnick Company Inc., Albany, N.Y.; Severn Trent Laboratories Inc., Fort Washington, Pa.; and Unisearch Associates Inc., Toronto.
The offering announced March 24 includes a package that can be deployed in the field to monitor for potentially threatening agents. The partnership also includes professional services for consequence planning and management.
The program supports planning, preparedness and response to potential threats with a combination of chemical, biological and radiological analysis, engineering, deployment, operations and monitoring capabilities, the companies said.
The group said it has the capability to test for chemical, biological and radiological agents in most indoor and outdoor locations using advanced technology provided by each team member.
R&P and Unisearch will provide sampling and airborne containment measurement instrumentation. Severn Trent Laboratories will provide polymerase chain reaction biological agent measurement. Arcadis and ManTech will provide system integration capability to deploy and operate local monitoring networks nationwide.
Each company has participated in homeland security activities since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, including agent monitoring activities at the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, World Trade Center site, U.S. Postal Service facilities and other government locations.
