Science Applications International Corp. has acquired VGS Inc., a Fairfax, Va., systems integrator that specializes in application engineering, enterprise resource planning, security management and systems engineering. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1986, VGS' 2002 annual revenue was $17 million, with approximately 55 percent derived from civilian agencies and the remainder from contracts performed for the Defense Department. The company has about 150 employees. Minuteman Ventures of Burlington, Mass., served as an adviser to VGS in the transaction.

The deal closed in late January, and VGS became part of SAIC's Information and Technology Solutions Group. SAIC is based in San Diego and has $6.1 billion in annual revenue.
