Northrop Grumman, BEA team for fed IT

Northrop Grumman Corp. and BEA Systems Inc. have formed a strategic alliance to pursue new business opportunities in the federal information technology market, the companies announced Feb. 3.

Under the agreement, Northrop Grumman Information Technology and BEA Systems will identify and pursue new business opportunities principally involving IT programs.

Northrop Grumman IT, the larger of the two companies, will lead the partnership, the companies said.

The companies will establish cross-functional business development and technology teams to focus on opportunities, identify process improvements and exchange best practices, the companies said.

Northrop Grumman IT's principal business areas, including information systems, enterprise IT solutions and command and control systems, will have access to the BEA WebLogic Enterprise Platform application infrastructure technology and products under the terms of the agreement. BAE Systems is an application infrastructure software company.

Northrop Grumman IT is a unit of Northrop Grumman Corp. of Los Angeles, which has more than 96,800 employees and annual revenue of $13.5 billion. BEA Systems of San Jose, Calif., has more than 3,110 employees and $975.9 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
