ACS nabs new defense and intelligence work

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has been awarded task orders totaling $54.7 million from the Department of Defense and U.S. intelligence community, the company announced Feb. 12.

An ACS spokesman declined to name the intelligence agencies where the work will be performed. Through a General Services Administration blanket purchase agreement, ACS of Dallas received $12.5 million in task order renewals as well as $42.2 million in new task orders, company officials said.

Under the contracts, ACS will provide information technology, data management and professional engineering services to the Defense Department and intelligence community.

This business can be attributed to the company's ability to deliver commercial best practices and provide reliable customer service, said Harvey Braswell, group president of ACS' Government Services.

ACS is a provider IT and business process outsourcing to commercial and government clients. The company has about 40,000 employees and annual revenue of more than $3 billion.
