A total of 450 fingerprint scanners and associated software have been ordered by the Defense Manpower Data Center from Identix Inc., Minnetonka, Minn. The company did not disclose terms of the sale.

The readers will be used as part of personnel fingerprint enrollment and verification applications being developed by the center. An office of the Department of Defense, the center supports manpower, personnel and training communities across the Defense Department though data archiving, research and other support functions.

This Identix sale follows a Dec. 16 win worth up to $5.3 million from the Navy's Office of Naval Research. For that contract, Identix will provide technical, financial and information management of a number of research projects.
