NCS Pearson renames government unit

NCS Pearson Inc.'s government business in Arlington, Va., has been renamed Pearson Government Solutions.

The unit, which employs more than 3,000 people, provides solutions including customer relationship management, e-learning, e-government, knowledge management and data collection.

All units of the Bloomington, Minn., NCS Pearson, a subsidiary of Pearson Education Inc. of Upper Saddle River, N.J., were renamed in an effort to coordinate branding across the Pearson company, with an emphasis on the Pearson name.

The other NCS Pearson businesses have been renamed Pearson Education Technologies, Pearson Assessments & Testing and Pearson NCS Data Management.

In addition, the Pearson name will be appended to all business names under the larger Pearson Education umbrella, with the exception of established professional and technical imprints such as Addison-Wesley Professional, Adobe Press, Peachpit Press, Cisco Press and several others.

All company logos will display the Pearson name as an integral part of their design, the company said.

Pearson Education's other imprints include Scott Foresman and Prentice Hall and more than 50 other educational names. The company added testing and assessment, application software and government contracting when it acquired National Computer Systems in 2000.
