Harris names new CEO

Harris Corp. named Howard Lance president and chief executive officer of the Melbourne, Fla., company. He replaces Phillip Farmer, who will continue as chairman of the board and as an employee until the end of the company's fiscal year in June.
Lance, 47, takes the helm Feb. 1. He was most recently president of NCR Corp. and chief operating officer of its retail and financial group, which had revenue in excess of $4 billion. Before that, he was executive vice president of Emerson Electric Co., heading its electronics and communications segment, with annual sales of $3 billion.
"Howard comes to Harris as a seasoned executive," Farmer said. "He has an excellent operations background and broad experience in communications markets." *
