DOD taps SSP for digital identity authentication

SSP Solutions Inc. has received orders totaling $4.8 million from the Department of Defense for digital identity authentication, administration and authorization software and firmware, the company announced Jan. 27.

The software includes SSP Profile Manager, a comprehensive lifecycle management tool for controlling digital credentials and tokens.

The firmware will be delivered on SSP's Universal Secure Access smart card, which is a high-speed USB interface, high-assurance product based on Forte, SSP's "system on a chip."

The new orders build on SSP's position of providing key architecture and design for U.S. government programs, according to company officials.

SSP of Irvine, Calif., provides data security for network communications systems. Its U.S. government customers include the DOD, FBI, Immigration and Naturalization Service and Department of State. The company has more than 100 employees and annual revenue of $22.7 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
