Florida re-ups ACS for Medicaid fiscal services

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a three-year, $85 million contract extension from the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration to provide fiscal services for the state's Medicaid program, the company announced Dec. 19.
Florida and ACS also signed a two-year, $4 million extension to an existing contract for decision support services for the program, the company said.
Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will provide a broad range of services, including paper and electronic claims processing, call center operations, provider enrollment and assistance, recipient services, systems support, fraud and abuse control and financial management. Under the decision support contract, ACS performs data warehousing services.
The fiscal services contract extension is scheduled to run from July 2004 through June 2007, while the decision support services contract will run from July 2002 through June 2004.
Florida's Medicaid program, which serves more than 1.9 million recipients, is the fifth largest in the country. To support the program, ACS processes about 130 million claims annually, disburses nearly $9 billion in claims payments and handles nearly 1 million calls from providers and recipients.
ACS provides information technology and business process outsourcing to commercial and government clients. The company has about 40,000 employees and annual revenue of $3 billion.
