Veridian, SecureInfo team for GSA project

Veridian Corp. and SecureInfo Corp. announced Nov. 25 that the General Services Administration awarded the team a $10.8 million task order to support the Federal Computer Incident Response Center. FedCIRC will be incorporated in the Department of Homeland Security.

Under the task order, the two companies will develop and maintain a Web-based system for authentication, validation, notification and dissemination of software patches that can be used by information technology managers and specialists across the federal government.

The partnership combines Veridian's expertise in the design and operation of security networks with SecureInfo's commercial enterprise vulnerability management system, InSiteEVM, said John Linton, chief operating officer of SecureInfo of San Antonio.

Veridian of Arlington, Va., is the prime contractor for the task order.

The system will pinpoint individual computers missing relevant software patches in real time. Government IT managers are then provided with specific alerts affecting the software used by their agency. These services will be available to any federal government customer via GSA licenses, according to Veridian.

Veridian provides information security services to many federal government operations, including the defense and intelligence communities, according to Jim Jaeger, vice president of Veridian's Cyber Assurance Group, which is based in San Antonio.
