Mass. small businesses get support of Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin Corp. recently entered into an agreement to strengthen its commitment to small businesses in Massachusetts, according to the officials of the Bethesda, Md., company.


Lockheed Martin and Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network officials signed a memorandum of understanding to support the state's Procurement Technical Assistance Center. The memorandum established a working relationship and guidelines to support small business development and use, and will enhance efforts to increase small business participation in contracts, Lockheed Martin officials said.


Lockheed Martin and the Massachusetts PTAC will work together to identify small businesses that are able to perform subcontracts for Lockheed Martin business units across the nation.

The memorandum was signed by John Hatch, vice president of Global Supply Chain Management for Lockheed Martin.


"This agreement will enhance Lockheed Martin's strong Supplier Diversity Program by establishing a model to coordinate our efforts with the PTAC organizations," Hatch said.


Michael Robinson, program manager for PTAC, said Lockheed Martin and PTAC will work together to implement and coordinate efforts to provide the greatest level of opportunity to the small business community.


Lockheed Martin employs about 125,000 people worldwide. The corporation reported 2001 sales of $24 billion.
