Lower Manhattan taps ACS for Sept. 11 grant program

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a three-year, multimillion dollar contract from the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. to implement a residential grant program to assist residents affected by the attack on the World Trade Center, the company announced Nov. 6.


The development organization plans to distribute more than $200 million in grants to residents in the immediate area affected by the attack Sept. 11, 2001.


Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will develop and document procedures and training for the grant program and implement an application, payment and customer service systems.


ACS also will perform translation services and establish offices in Lower Manhattan to accept applications and perform administrative activities.


Harvey Braswell, ACS group president of government services, said ACS' experience implementing and operating large-scale eligibility programs for government customers will help the company administer program services in a timely and efficient manner.


ACS has about 40,000 employees and more than $3 billion in annual revenue, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
