WR Systems nets $149 million Navy deal
WR Systems Ltd. won a five-year Navy contract to provide navigation systems support services.
WR Systems Ltd., Fairfax, Va., won a five-year, $149 million Navy contract to provide navigation systems support services. The work will be carried out primarily at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center at the Little Creek Amphibious Base in Norfolk, Va.
The contract grows out of a 1996 deal with Spawar that launched WR Systems' engineering services division. The company provided navigation systems upgrades for the naval agency, leading to a follow-up contract increase to $50 million, and now to nearly $150 million.
WR Systems expects to hire at least 30 employees this year to accommodate the new contract, with more staff to be hired over the life of the program, company officials said.
Under the contract, WR Systems will provide a range of surface and subsurface navigation support services aboard Navy ships, submarines and small craft, and at onshore facilities. In-service engineering, design development, test and evaluation, prototype development, certification, installation, repair and training are among the services included.
Titan Corp., San Diego, is a subcontractor to W R Systems for the project.
