NCS Pearson wins $160 million in government deals

NCS Pearson Inc. has won two federal government contracts worth $160 million, the company announced Oct. 10.


The deals include a three-year, $118 million contract from the Department of Health and Human Services and a three-year, $42 million contract from the Department of Defense.


Under the HHS contract, NCS Pearson Government Solutions Inc. will operate and manage the toll-free help line for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.


The 1-800-MEDICARE help line program serves citizens throughout the nation who are seeking to receive or currently receiving Medicare and Medicaid benefits and services through HHS. The contract includes recruiting, training and managing staff to handle about 10 million telephone calls a year.


Under the defense contract, another NCS Pearson unit, KEI Pearson Inc., will manage and develop a human resources management support system for the Air Force, Army and Navy that enables the Military Health System to administer all aspects of human resources. The system will be accessible to more than 150,000 users around the globe.


The contract was awarded by the department's Military Health Systems Resources Information Technology Program Office.


NCS Pearson of Bloomington, Minn., has about 6,000 employees and $820 million in annual revenue, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
