Mass. taps AMS for financial management system
American Management Systems Inc. has won a 29-month, $25.2 million contract from the Massachusetts Office of the State Comptroller to develop a statewide financial management system.
American Management Systems Inc. has won a 29-month, $25.2 million contract from the Massachusetts Office of the State Comptroller to develop a statewide financial management system, the company announced Sept. 25.AMS of Fairfax, Va., will develop a new Massachusetts Management, Accounting and Reporting System. The system will be based on AMS Advantage 3, the company's latest Web-based financial management and procurement solution. The new system, which will provide real-time interaction with the state portal, is expected to increase productivity while allowing users to move more easily between systems. The system replaces antiquated so-called green-screen technology user interfaces with an Internet browser interface. It also streamlines business processes for governmental users and those doing business with the state. Beyond the benefits to the state's comptroller department, individuals, payees and corporations doing business with the state also will see improvement with the new MMARS system, according to AMS. For example, the Payee Self-Serve subsystem will provide consumers with a Web-based form available 24 hours a day, seven days a week on the Internet.In addition, users will be allowed to submit W-9s, applicable terms and conditions and electronic transfer information via the Web, AMS said.AMS is a global business and information technology consulting firm with about 7,000 employees and $1.1 billion in annual revenue, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
