ManTech takes on Air Force subcontract

ManTech International Corp. won a $21 million subcontract from Technical and Management Services Corp. to assist the company on an Air Force weapons system upgrade, the company announced Sept. 23.


Under the contract, ManTech of Fairfax, Va., will modify and upgrade support equipment used in maintenance testing of the navigation and targeting system pods for the Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night weapon system.


According to the company, ManTech will install the upgraded equipment at 19 locations worldwide as part of the Flexible Acquisition and Sustainment Tool, or FAST, contract, led by Tamsco of Calverton, Md.


The weapon system is on the Air Force's F-15E Strike Eagle and F-16C/D Fighting Falcon jets. It increases the combat effectiveness of the aircraft, allowing it to fly at low altitudes, at night and under the weather to attack ground targets with a variety of precision-guided and unguided weapons, the company said.


ManTech Test Systems, a unit of ManTech International, is a member of the Tamsco FAST team, one of six teams on FAST, a $7.4 billion, seven-year contract vehicle to support the Air Force with technical and professional weapons system support services and critical, limited and contingency spares and repairs.


ManTech International has more than 3,500 employees and annual sales of $431.4 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
