Five get HR work

Five integrators were each awarded approximately $1 million to conduct a risk assessment for the first phase of the Defense Integrated Military Human Resource System.

The winners are Computer Sciences Corp., El Segundo, Calif.; IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y.; Lockheed Martin Corp., Bethesda, Md.; Northrop Grumman Corp., Los Angeles, and PwC Consulting, Hamilton, Bermuda. DIMHRS will provide personnel and pay services for all Defense Department personnel and active duty, reserve and National Guard service members worldwide. The system will collect data on a person's career and retain and maintain data in a single, comprehensive record.

Using software from PeopleSoft Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., the system will support 3.1 million service personnel and will replace 81 legacy systems. The integration work to create the system may be worth $1.5 billion, industry officials said. The Defense Department will pick a winner from among the five companies after phase I is completed in December.
