Arkansas taps ACS for justice management system

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a $4 million contract from the Arkansas Administrative Office of the Courts to implement a statewide justice information management system, the company announced Sept. 9.

ACS of Dallas will provide a comprehensive suite of case and jury management systems, a public attorney case management system, software modifications, training and installation, data conversion and project management services.

The ACS solutions will be the key elements of the Arkansas Court Automation Project undertaken by the Administrative Office of the Courts and the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Automation.

The new case management system will allow Arkansas courts to connect all circuit and district courts to a statewide court system, collect and generate court statistics and automatically transmit case dispositions to the Arkansas Crime Information Center, the company said.

Other components of the system will allow citizens to access court information online and pay citations by Web or phone.

The ACS jury management system will allow Arkansas courts to manage all aspects of the jury service process, including interactive online options for all jurors to accept summonses, request postponements or deferrals and view general instructions.

The ACS public attorney case management system may be used by prosecutors, states' attorneys and public defenders to access and share case and party information.

ACS has about 35,000 employees and annual sales of $3 billion.
