ACS wins NASA education work

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. of Dallas announced Sept. 5 that it won a $6.6 million contract with NASA's Glenn Research Center to operate a mobile aerospace education laboratory and to install similar, fixed aerospace education laboratories in high-tech classrooms across the United States.NASA's mobile laboratory is a state-of-the-art laboratory and classroom that travels across the country providing students with opportunities to learn about NASA's aeronautics and space programs and perform a variety of experiments. The mobile unit consists of 10 workstations, including a flight simulator, an aircraft design station, and a wind tunnel lab. These activities model real-world challenges in aviation and space. Participants culminate their experience with a simulated cross-country airplane flight or a space shuttle flight from the Kennedy Space Center to the International Space Station.ACS is installing similar, fixed aerospace education laboratories in classrooms across the nation. Twenty-five AELs are installed, and three more are planned for the near future.ACS is a Fortune 1000 company with more than 36,000 people supporting operations in 47 countries.
