SecureInfo team gets $103 million VA security contract

A team led by SecureInfo Corp. won a $103 million contract from Veterans Affairs to run an incident response operations center, the San Antonio-based company announced Aug. 9.


The VA Security Team or VAST, includes Adtech Systems Inc., San Antonio; Applied Engineering Management Corp., Chantilly, Va.; DSD Laboratories Inc., Sudbury, Mass.; Seidcon Inc., Oceanside, Calif.; and TeamBI Solutions Inc., Falls Church, Va.


"Our mission is to launch a new global standard in cybersecurity," said John Gauss, VA assistant secretary for information and technology.


Under this contract, VAST will develop and run a response center to detect and respond to threats of all VA-affiliated networks as well as share useful information with other agencies.


"The VA's meticulous information security initiative signals a major advancement in the protection of private electronic information for the American public, and we expect that other federal agencies ... will follow this trend in the near future," said John Linton, chief operating officer for SecureInfo.


The initial contract calls for services valued at $103 million over the 11-year term of the agreement. However, the coalition expects that additional services stemming from this work could bring the long-term commitment to more than $250 million.


SecureInfo Corp., founded in 1992, is a computer security solutions provider. The company has founded an emergency computer response team and a product assessment certification center for the Air Force. It has also worked with the National Security Agency on security policies.
