General Dynamics Corp. of Falls Church, Va., won a contract worth $260 million from the Air Force for manufacturing and integrating Theater Deployable Communications Integrated Communications Access Packages.

The communications packages are state-of-the-art ground communications systems that are flexible, portable and rapidly deployable. Through the system, Air Force units can send and receive secure voice, data and video messages via wireless, satellite or other phone and wireline systems.

The original contract, awarded in October 1996 to Motorola Inc., Schaumburg, Ill., was valued at $263.7 million and included delivery of more than 1,700 units.
