Signal wins DoT contract

Signal Corp. of Fairfax, Va., announced it has been awarded a three-year, $50 million contract from the Federal Highway Administration to support traffic monitoring and management in the nation's most traffic-congested areas.

The contract calls for deploying sensor network systems and infrastructure in 25 major metropolitan areas nationwide. The deal supports a public-private partnership among the department, various state departments of transportation and Signal's partner, Mobility Technologies Inc. of Wayne, Pa.

"We're very pleased to be a part of the solution by monitoring and, ultimately, easing traffic congestion throughout the country," said Roger Mody, Signal's president and chief executive officer. "This is a great example of federal, state and private sectors working together for the public good."
