As easy as 1-2-3 ... million: Lockheed wins Pa. state police contract

Lockheed Martin Management and Data Systems Inc. won a $123 million contract from the Pennsylvania State Police to provide systems integration for an incident information management system, the company announced July 23.



Under the contract, Lockheed Martin Management and Data Systems of King of Prussia, Pa., will be responsible for the design, development, integration and implementation of various system components along with its subcontractors and other state enterprise technology modernization initiatives.



The project is part of an effort by the state police department to modernize its data systems for emergency call-taking and dispatch, mobile computer software and evidence, criminal and investigative management systems, the company said.



As part of the project, the state police department will install dispatch and incident software into the computers of 1,600 patrol cars, obtain bar-coding technology for processing evidence and use computer-aided dispatching and geographic information systems to get troopers quickly to incidents.



The new dispatch capability also includes modernization of both standard dial and cell phone access to enhance emergency call-taking from the public. This will allow the department to consolidate its dispatch centers from 81 to five locations.



The system will be fully deployed by May 2006, the company said. Lockheed Martin Management and Data Systems is a unit of Lockheed Martin Corp. of Bethesda, Md.
