American Management Systems Inc. has won a $4.8 million, 36-month contract from Wyoming to host the state payroll system and other accounting and procurement services, the company announced June 11.
The contract, awarded by the state auditor's office, will make Wyoming the first state to completely outsource its payroll and accounting data, according to AMS, an information technology consulting firm based in Fairfax, Va..
"By hosting its data through AMS' advanced facilities, the state auditor's office will be better able to focus on taking care of its core business ? managing and coordinating the state's fiscal operations," said Donna Morea, executive vice president and general manager of AMS Public Sector.
Over the next year, AMS will migrate Wyoming's financial data to AMS Advantage 3.0, a Web-enabled platform, while concurrently hosting and supporting the state's current payroll and accounting data based on AMS Advantage 2.0.
According to AMS, its Advantage 3.0 is the only totally Web-based administrative solution available to state and local governments today. The data-hosting solution will provide a point-to-point, dedicated connection to allow for a seamless, secure network.
Advantage 3.0 was designed to meet the financial needs of state and local governments and does not require "force fitting" to meet complex government standards and requirements, AMS said.
