Virginia taps Dyntek for seat management

Dyntek Inc. has won a three-year contract worth about $18 million with the Virginia Department of Corrections to provide seat management services, the company said June 24.

Under the contract, Dyntek of Irvine, Calif., and DynCorp TechServ of Reston, Va., will provide comprehensive seat management services that include planning, acquisition, installation, management, asset management, disposal, ongoing maintenance and support, and project management.

The department has about 7,500 seats located throughout the state, said Linda Wise, a Dyntek spokeswoman.

To increase the efficiency of its seat management solution, Dyntek will use a proprietary suite of applications, which provides Web-based support for IT and systems management.

The suite, called ProductivIT, securely collects and catalogs detailed information on every system, making asset tracking, migration analysis and suspicious activity reporting available to its customers, according to the company.

Participating with Dyntek on the project are Networking Technologies and Support Inc. of Richmond, Va., which will provide systems integration and systems management services, and Verizon Commercial Wiring Services, which will provide cable infrastructure services.

Under a seat management contract awarded by the Virginia Department of Information Technology in September 2000, state agencies can contract for seat management with either Dyntek; Affiliated Computer Services Inc., Dallas; or Unisys Corp. of Blue Bell, Pa.
