Conquest gets $140 million for contract expansion

Conquest Inc. of Annapolis Junction, Md., announced June 3 it was awarded a $140 million contract expansion with a U.S. intelligence agency.


Conquest provides large-scale systems and software technology solutions to federal and commercial customers. Under the 3 1/2-year contract, Conquest will provide systems engineering and technical support for several initiatives to modernize the agency's systems capabilities.

The award comes after a five-year, $57 million contract Conquest won with the same agency to provide systems engineering and technical assistance support for the Trailblazer initiative, which will modernize the agency's foreign signals intelligence capabilities.



Although Conquest said it could not release the name of its agency customer, it is well-known in the information technology industry that the Trailblazer initiative will modernize the National Security Agency.



Conquest said this latest contract win is the largest award in the company's 13-year history.

Conquest has nearly doubled its revenue for the past seven years; reaching reached $16 million in 2001, the company said. In addition, the company has increased its staff by nearly 200 percent since 2001 to 140 employees, and has opened an office in Washington for business development and support of its customers in Virginia. The company is planning to add additional staff in the coming months.



"Conquest has grown tremendously in terms of income, team members and visibility within the federal community," said Norm Snyder, co-founder and president of Conquest.



Boeing Co. of Chicago will be the subcontractor to Conquest on the system engineering and technical assistance contract, Conquest said. Under the terms of the contract, Boeing will use its process and systems integration expertise to build a more robust architecture for a variety of programs at the U.S. intelligence agency.



Conquest's expertise includes systems and software engineering, enterprise architecture, systems integration, information and knowledge management, intelligence analysis and customized application development.
