Electronic Data Systems Corp. of Plano, Texas, April 23 announced it renewed a contract with Connecticut under which EDS performs administrative and operational processes for the state's Medicaid program.
The contract extension, worth $37 million, continues EDS' Medicaid work through Dec. 31, 2003. EDS provides Medicaid administrative support services to 19 states and supports the Medicare program throughout most of the United States.
EDS has provided fiscal agent services to the Connecticut Department of Social Services since 1981, and now annually administers nearly $2 billion in Medicaid health benefits to more than 420,000 beneficiaries and 6,000 health care providers in Connecticut.
EDS will continue to use its interChange Medicaid Management Information system to support Connecticut's fee-for-service Medicaid program. Using this system, EDS provides services such as claims processing, eligibility verification, pharmacy benefit, third-party recovery and provider relations.
In addition to the Medicaid program, EDS supports the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Assistance Contract to the Elderly and Disabled and the State Administered General Assistance Program.
