Orkand Digs Win from Geological Survey

Orkand Corp. was awarded a $79 million contract to support operating functions of the U.S. Geological Survey.

IT service provider Orkand Corp., Falls Church, Va., was awarded a five-year, $79 million contract to support operating functions of the U.S. Geological Survey, Orkand announced March 11.

The contract expands on the support work that Orkand delivers to the agency under an existing $23 million contract. Orkand has been supporting the agency for 16 years.

Much of the work will be performed at agency locations in Reston, Va., Rolla, Mo., and Lakewood, Colo. The company may also provide onsite support at any designated facility.

Established in 1970, Orkand specializes in areas such as information assurance, electronic records management, geographic information systems and facilities management. The company employs 1,100 people.
