Flyzik, Altman win Azimuth awards

Treasury Chief Information Officer Jim Flyzik and IBM Corp. executive Anne Altman are recipients of this year's Azimuth awards, chosen by the CIO Council and sponsored by the FOSE IT trade show.The awards, given for outstanding service to federal information technology, were presented by Bill Howell, FOSE's general manager, and Mark Forman, associate director for IT and e-government at the Office of Management and Budget, at a dinner March 20 in Washington.Altman is managing director for IBM U.S. Federal, which last year won a major modernization contract from the U.S. Customs Service. She is also active in several IT-related organizations.Flyzik is vice chairman of the CIO Council. Forman cited Flyzik's work on government management reform, spanning three administrations. Forman joked that since he worked closely with former Vice President Al Gore on the National Performance Review, "Jim Flyzik truly, truly invented the Internet."
