Contract roundup

Nine companies won a piece of the seven-year, $2 billion Department of Defense Encore contract, the successor to the Defense Enterprise Integration Services II pact. The contractors will provide services such as contract and task order management, integration program development and business process re-engineering to the Defense Department, other federal agencies and state and local governments.

The winning contractors are:

? Northrop Grumman Corp., Los Angeles

? Unisys Corp., Blue Bell, Pa.

Anteon Corp., Fairfax, Va., won a $27.3 million contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, to support the Navy's Aegis shipbuilding program. The company will provide configuration management analysis and technical support, international programs support, systems engineering and program management support.

Qwest Communications International Inc. and Loudcloud Inc. have been tapped by mortgage financier Freddie Mac to run its Home Value Suite of Web-based products. The products are supposed to speed the home-buying process. The contract's value and length were not released. Freddie Mac, McLean, Va., was established by Congress in 1970 to support home ownership and rental housing. The company is outsourcing its Web site operations management to Loudcloud of Sunnyvale, Calif., and the system will run on the network of Qwest, Denver.

SRA International Inc. has been selected by the Defense Technical Information Center to provide information technology and business process re-engineering support to the Department of Defense's science and technology program. The task order, awarded under the Department of Transportation's Information Technology Omnibus Procurement II (ITOP II) program, is worth an estimated $10.5 million over five years.

Cable & Computer Technology Inc., Anaheim, Calif., won a five-year, $9.9 million contract to provide engineering services to the Naval Surface Warfare Center. CCT will identify and provide hardware and software modifications to a fiber optic switching system.
