Find opportunities — and win them.

The Justice Department has launched a Web site to assist state and local law enforcement agencies and the public.

The Department of Justice has launched a Web site designed to assist state and local law enforcement agencies and the public in the war on crime, the department announced Feb. 13.

The Web site, which was established by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, provides comprehensive sets of criminal data for use by state and local law enforcement, government officials and the general public.

On the Web site, users can access data from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports and Supplementary Homicide Reports, and from the Law Enforcement Management and Administrative Statistics done by Justice Statistics.

Users can create data tables on criminal offenses from the Uniform Crime Reports for all states and for agencies that service a local population of 10,000 or more. Users also can access homicide trends and characteristics for 50 states and localities with populations of more than 250,000.

Management and administrative statistics for state and local law enforcement agencies employing 100 or more sworn officers also are available.
