S.C. Taps Covansys for Unemployment Tax System
Covansys Corp. has won a $2.5 million contract from the South Carolina Security Employment Commission for an unemployment insurance tax system.
Covansys Corp. has won a $2.5 million contract from the South Carolina Security Employment Commission to develop and implement an unemployment insurance tax system, the company announced Dec. 11.
Under the agreement, Covansys of Farmington Hills, Mich., will provide the requirement definitions, design, development, testing, rollout and operational support. The project, which began in September, is scheduled for completion in first quarter 2003, the company said.
The South Carolina Automated Tax System will allow state workers to automate routine tasks, reduce paper processes and improve efficiency, timeliness and data capture, according to state and company officials.
The automated tax system also will include a Web-based interface system that will provide access to information and increase workplace efficiency by allowing employers to register their businesses, report wages and make payments online.
Covansys provides public-sector solutions to more than 25 states in health and human services, transportation, public retirement systems, labor and tax and revenue systems. The company has more than 5,100 employees and annual revenue of $420 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
