Unisys Is Keystone in Pa. Criminal History System

Unisys Corp. has won a three and one-half year, $17 million services contract from the Pennsylvania State Police to redesign the state's computerized criminal history record information system, the company announced Nov. 12.

Under the contract, Unisys will integrate three systems into one and migrate the criminal history application from a legacy system to an open systems-based environment.

The redesign of the criminal history system is the second phase of an ongoing initiative. The first phase, which was completed earlier this year, involved requirements definition and detail design for the system.

The computerized criminal history record information system will enable the Pennsylvania State Police to disseminate criminal history data and information to agencies, criminal justice and not, and individuals on request.

The new integrated solution will allow both governmental agencies and the public to submit requests to the state police via the Internet to obtain criminal history information.

The state police also will be able to scan, store and makes images of a variety of documents associated with a criminal history.

Unisys has more than 22,000 employees and annual revenue of $6.8 billion.
