ITSS Wins Agriculture Dept.'s Shared LAN Work

Find opportunities — and win them.

ITS Services Inc. netted a $14.3 million task order from the Department of Agriculture.

ITS Services Inc., Springfield, Va., won a $14.3 million task order from the Department of Agriculture, the company said Nov. 15.

The order, awarded through the Commerce Department's Commerce Information Technology Services contract, is for one year, with four one-year options.

Under the order, ITSS will provide services to manage, operate and maintain the Agriculture Department's shared local area network, called HQ Net, and its network operations center, both in the Washington area.

The transition to ITSS from the incumbent contractor, Digital Systems Research Inc. of Arlington, Va., is already under way, said Stephanie Simeone, ITSS vice president of business development. The company, which ranked sixth on Washington Technology's 2001 ranking of 8(a) contractors, will take over full operation of HQ Net Dec. 1.

Digital Systems graduated from the 8(a) program in 1999.

ITSS will provide network operations, engineering support and firewall administration and will manage the e-mail gateway, Simeone said.

The contract has two pieces, she said. The first, for the above services, is performance-based, so the company will have incentives to meet the agency's requirements.

The second part includes special projects that likely will be compensated based on time and materials.
