Unisys Adds Child-Support Work to Pa. Outsourcing

Unisys Corp. has won a child-support outsourcing contract worth about $41 million with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, the company announced Oct. 11.

Under the terms of the contract, Unisys will consolidate and manage computer systems that support Pennsylvania's Child Support Enforcement System beginning Jan. 2, 2002.

As part of the technology refreshment, Unisys will upgrade the agency's mainframe computer and replace outdated data storage technology with new storage subsystems that have larger capacity, increased performance and reliability and complete backup.

The child-support outsourcing contract is an expansion of Unisys seven-year, $565 million information technology outsourcing agreement with Pennsylvania, now in its third year.

The Pennsylvania Child Support Enforcement System encompasses the business operations of the state's 67 county domestic relations sections. They are responsible for collecting and distributing child support.

Unisys of Blue Bell, Pa., provides network services, outsourcing, systems integration along with enterprise servers to a number of commercial markets as well as the public sector. The company has more than 22,000 employees and annual revenue of $6.8 billion, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
