Sierra Systems, Maximus Build Connecticut Justice Database

Sierra Systems Group Inc. and Maxiums Inc. have been tapped by Connecticut to help build a criminal justice database for the state. Connecticut Chief Information Officer Rock Regan said the project, which will be funded by state bonds, will encompass the integration of law enforcement and judicial data stored in 15 legacy systems within eight executive and judicial branch agencies.

Sierra Systems Group Inc. has won a two-year, $10 million contract to provide a criminal justice database to the state of Connecticut, the state announced Oct. 17.The database, which will serve as the centerpiece of Connecticut's criminal justice information system, will be known as the Offender Based Tracking System. Maximus Inc. of Reston, Va., will assist Sierra Systems Group of Vancouver, British Columbia, in the project by providing project management and systems integration. Before the project was awarded, Maximus helped the state develop a vision for the tracking system and provided the design concept.Maximus will receive $8 million in total compensation for those services, said Nuala Forde, a spokeswoman with the Connecticut Department of Information Technology. Sierra Systems is a management consulting and systems integration firm that provides solutions to a number of different sectors, including the government, financial services, health care, justice, telecommunications and utilities. Sierra Systems has 900 employees and annual revenue of $120 million (Canadian).Maximus is a government services company that specializes in providing state and local governments with program management, information technology and consulting services. The company has more than 4,700 employees and annual revenue of $399 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
