CSC, BAE Systems Expand Outsourcing Agreement
Computer Sciences Corp. and BAE Systems Plc signed a new $102 million, five-year expansion to their existing IT outsourcing agreement.
Computer Sciences Corp. of El Segundo, Calif., and BAE Systems Plc of Farmborough, Hampshire, United Kingdom, have signed a new $102 million, five-year expansion to their existing information technology outsourcing agreement, the companies announced Oct. 8.
The new contract, which will run concurrently with the companies' global agreement, covers IT outsourcing services for BAE Systems' Information & Electronic Warfare Systems unit in Nashua, N.H. The unit produces defense electronic protection systems and tactical surveillance and intelligence systems.
CSC will manage a range of IT operations for the unit, including midrange and desktop computers, wide- and local-area networking, Internet services, help-desk support and procurement.
An additional 128 BAE Systems IEWS employees transferred to CSC as part of the agreement.
The new contract is an extension of the $2.2 billion, six-year IT outsourcing agreement BAE Systems and CSC signed in November 2000. With the addition of the IEWS unit, the contract between BAE Systems and CSC is valued at more than $2.3 billion and will run through November 2006.
CSC now has approximately 2,230 employees serving the BAE Systems account globally, making this one of its largest outsourcing engagements.
