California Taps Maximus for Medicaid Enrollment

Maximus Inc. has won a new three-year, $113 million contract with the California Department of Health Services to manage enrollment services for a statewide health care program, the company announced Oct. 2.

Under the contract, Maximus of Reston, Va., will provide managed care education and enrollment services for more than four million Medicaid recipients in California. The contract includes three additional one-year options.

Maximus has served as the incumbent contractor for Medicaid managed care in California since January 1997.
As part of its enrollment services, Maximus operates a multi-lingual call center, and provides a comprehensive education and outreach program that includes the distribution of educational literature by direct mail and personal interviews.

Maximus is a government services company that specializes in providing state and local governments with program management, information technology and consulting services. The company brokers Medicaid enrollment services in 11 states throughout the country.

Maximus has more than 4,700 employees and annual revenue of $399 million, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
