Sugar Named President, COO of Northrop Grumman

Northrop Grumman Corp. has picked a top executive from recently acquired Litton Industries Inc. to fill the spot of president and chief operating officer.


Ronald Sugar, 53, will fill the two posts, the company announced Sept. 20 He served as president and chief operating officer of Litton Industries before its acquisition by Los Angeles-based Northrop Grumman. He was elected to Northrop Grumman's board of directors in April when the purchase was completed.


"With our recent acquisition of Litton Industries, Northrop Grumman is now a $15 billion top-tier global enterprise with 80,000 employees," said Kent Kresa, chairman and chief executive officer.


The company also announced it has established an office of the chairman, which will consist of the chairman and CEO and the president and COO. The office will be responsible for the total operations of the corporation.


Kresa praised Sugar's leadership and management capabilities in successfully integrating Litton's operations into Northrop Grumman, saying his "knowledge and understanding of the operations of both Litton and Northrop Grumman" will serve him well in his new role.
