KPMG, Titan Win Army Support Services Deal

KPMG Consulting Inc., McLean, Va., and Titan Systems Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Titan Corp., San Diego, have each won a blanket purchase agreement for program management support services for the Army Program Executive Office for Standard Army Management Information Systems, or PEO STAMIS, the companies announced.

The estimated value of the two indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity agreements is $277 million over seven years, if all options are exercised.

The office needed "to capture and use knowledge management as an organization," said Kevin Carroll, program executive officer for the Standard Army Management Information Systems. "The problem was that we had some 90 vendors supporting us. Now, these two new strategic partners will assist us in standardizing our processes."

KPMG Consulting and Titan will compete with each other to provide goods and services. The companies will provide support services in process, financial and logistic management and systems integration services.

Located in Fort Belvoir, Va., the office develops information technology systems for the Army. At present, the office manages over 19 major programs that support recruiting and training, providing and maintaining equipment, planning for the movement of supplies and tracking Army's personnel.

"Our goal is to help PEO STAMIS standardize its processes so that the organization can deliver consistent, high-quality systems that will meet the needs of Army personnel," said Rich Roberts, senior vice president, KPMG Consulting.
