Wackenhut Wins Energy Dept. Services Contract
The Energy Department chose Wackenhut Services Inc. for a five-year, $163 million contract to operate the Nonproliferation and National Security Institute in Albuquerque, N.M., and other related activities in the Washington area and outside the United States.
The Energy Department chose Wackenhut Services Inc. for a five-year, $163 million contract to operate the Nonproliferation and National Security Institute in Albuquerque, N.M., and other related activities in the Washington area and outside the United States.
Wackenhut, a subsidiary of the Wackenhut Corp. of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and the incumbent on the program, was awarded the contract June 27.
Under the contract, Wackenhut will provide management, operation, maintenance, logistic support, technical, administrative and other services to the institute.
The company will support a wide range of programs to facilitate protecting facilities, safeguarding nuclear materials, maintaining nuclear nonproliferation, preparing emergency procedures, plans and response capabilities, and providing technical and administrative support to the Office of Safeguards and Security Accelerated Access Authorization Program.
