Palmdale, Calif., Gives $5M Deal to ACS

Affiliated Computer Services Inc. has won a five-year, $5 million renewal of a contract for information technology outsourcing with the city of Palmdale, Calif., the company announced July 25.

Under the agreement, ACS of Dallas will continue to provide management and operation of Palmdale's information services department. ACS is responsible for maintaining and operating all software, hardware, networks, backups and data storage.

Palmdale is one of about 30 local governments to which ACS provides outsourcing services. The city first outsourced its information services with ACS in 1994.

Meanwhile, ACS has sold $126,000 in software licenses for its citizen relationship management solution to West Virginia, the company announced July 23. ACS will partner on the project with Tygart Technology Inc. of Fairmont, W.Va.

The West Virginia project will begin in the governor's office, then expand to other state agencies, according to state and company officials.

West Virginia purchased the rights to use ACS' Internet Quorum System. This is a browser-based product that integrates all types of correspondence and generates Web forms that allow citizen input to flow directly to the government staff in charge of responding to them.

ACS has more than 20,000 employees and had sales of about $2.1 billion in 2001.
