Air Force Announces FAST Contract Winners

Six companies have won the Air Force's $7.6 billion Flexible Acquisition and Sustainment Tool program. The seven-year contract will be used for Air Force orders of managed weapon systems, support systems, subsystems and components.


The winners are:

* Boeing Co., Seattle.

* Lockheed Martin Inc., Bethesda, Md.

* Modern Technologies Corp., Dayton, Ohio.

* Science Applications International Corp., San Diego

* Support Systems Associates Inc., Melbourne, Fla.

* Technical and Management Services Corp., Calverton, Md.


These companies will now compete with each other for task orders under the contract.


FAST allows the Air Force to quickly purchase parts and services, ranging from advisory and assistance services to replacement parts and systems acquisition. Information technology needs may include software engineering and system support. For instance, Modern Technologies developed a Web-based task tracking system that could be procured under FAST.

"The FAST contract will use a number of the MTC core capabilities, including engineering, information technology, systems integration, acquisition management and logistics support," said Michael Solley, president of Modern Technologies.

As part of the agreement, contractors must work with the Air Force's integrated digital environment, which facilitates the generation, exchange, storage and management of electronic data. They must also provide integrated engineering and technical support, secure data exchange and retrieval capabilities.

The primary users of this contract will be the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center in Oklahoma City; the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, and the Ogden Air Logistics Center at the Hill Air Force Base, Utah. It may include other Air Force organizations as well.
