Michigan Treasury Steps Up First for Siebel Software

Siebel Systems Inc. has won a $1 million contract to provide electronic business applications software to the Michigan Department of Treasury, state officials announced June 20.



Siebel Systems of San Mateo, Calif., is optimistic that other Michigan agencies will select its software to support their citizen-relationship management solutions in the wake of the award, according to the company.



Although Michigan state agencies are assessing the possible use of Siebel, the Department of Treasury is the only one that has moved forward with it, said Stephanie Comai, director of e-Michigan.



"Other state agencies are assessing their use of Siebel, but are still in the exploratory stages," she said.



The state of Michigan has 19 agencies with 63,000 employees serving a state population of 9.9 million.


Siebel Systems provides an integrated family of e-business applications software that enables multichannel sales, marketing and customer service systems to be deployed over the Web and through other networks.


Siebel Systems has more than 7,300 employees and had sales of $1.7 billion in fiscal 2000, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
