TRW Inc. won a six-year, $48 million contract to develop a Web-based logistics system for the Army. If the Army exercises all options, the contract value could be as much as $400 million, said Cleveland-based TRW.

The Web-based system, known as Global Combat Support System-Army Tactical, will provide inventory management and fleet maintenance for the tactical logistics operations. The system ultimately will tie together the two Army logistic domains: retail and wholesale.

It replaces the Army's existing suite of legacy systems that provide logistics support for maintenance, supply, property accountability, ammunition and readiness management.
