CACI Wins Air Force Contract

The Air Force Research Laboratory's Sensors Directorate has awarded an $8.5 million, five-year contract to CACI International Inc. for electronic warfare technology, the company said April 17.

In support of the contract, CACI of Arlington, Va., will integrate electronic warfare technologies; define, simulate and evaluate radar threats to Air Force weapons systems; and help identify electronic warfare technology solutions to these threats.

Technology applications that might result from this research range from radar to missile and weapons guidance countermeasures, the company said.

This award and others like it are part of a strategic plan by the company to expand its intelligence business.

"It meets our strategic goals for increased business in the intelligence community, and it continues our partnership with a key player, the Air Force Research Laboratory and all its commands," said J.P. "Jack" London, CACI's chairman and chief executive officer.

Among CACI's defense intelligence wins last year were:

*An indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract potentially worth $500 million to provide technical, engineering, fabrication and operations support to the Army Communications-Electronics Command;

*A $48 million, five-year contract to provide information technology to the Air Force Research Laboratory Rome Research Site, Rome, N.Y.;

*A $16 million, five-year, IDIQ contract to support a variety of defense and intelligence systems for the Space and Naval Systems Warfare Center, San Diego.

The Air Force Research Laboratory's Sensor Directorate is located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

CACI has about 5,000 employees and had sales of $490 million in fiscal 2000, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas.
