Tier Technologies Inc. of Walnut Creek, Calif., has won a new and expanded master services agreement with the state of Missouri.

The agreement establishes Tier as the primary contractor for information technology solutions and means that Missouri must give the company the first shot at any potential IT contracts, said company and state officials on Feb. 26.

The agreement runs through Feb. 6, 2002, and contains an option for three additional one-year renewal periods.

In recent years, Tier has provided more than $40 million in IT services to Missouri, including about $9.4 million in services under the previous MSA during 2000, said company officials. Among the Missouri state agencies that Tier has provided services to are the Highway Patrol and the departments of Corrections, Natural Resources, Social Services and Transportation.

Tier is consulting firm that provides business and IT consulting and application development. The company had more than 900 employees and sales of $109 million in fiscal 2000, according to Hoover's Online of Austin, Texas. More than 40 percent of Tier's sales are to the government.
