McGuire Woods LLP, a law firm specializing in technology, has formed McGuire Woods Capital Group to provide business consulting services to emerging and midmarket companies.

McGuire Woods LLP, a law firm specializing in technology, has formed McGuire Woods Capital Group to provide business consulting services to emerging and midmarket companies.

The group will offer services in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, acquisition integration, corporate development, business performance enhancement, financial performance assessments and investor and financial relations.

"This is an exciting new initiative for McGuire Woods and represents a strategic thrust to offer a broader range of differentiated, nonlegal services to both our existing and prospective clients, particularly in the emerging growth and technology area," said Robert Burrus, chairman of McGuireWoods, Richmond, Va.

Todd Stottlemyer will lead the new group. Stottlemyer is a former chief financial and administrative officer of BTG Inc., a Fairfax, Va., systems integrator. He also is a former corporate executive of BDM International Inc., McLean, Va., which was sold to TRW Inc.

The new group is headquartered in Tysons Corner, Va., and also has offices in New York and Charlotte, N.C.

Other members of the group include Tim Batchelor, formerly of PaineWebber Investment Banking; Janine Carey, formerly of GTE Corp.; Paul Leslie, formerly of BTG; Paul Liberty, formerly of Metrocall Inc.; and David Wise, formerly of Ciena Corp.
