CSC Names New Federal President

Paul Cofoni will succeed Milton Cooper as president of the federal sector at Computer Sciences Corp. effective March 1. The El Segundo, Calif., systems integrator announced the transition last week.

Cooper, president of the federal sector since 1992, will retire at the end of May. Before joining CSC in 1984 as vice president of program development, he served in various business and management positions several corporations, including IBM Corp. and Raytheon Co.

Cofoni is currently president of CSC's commercial outsourcing arm, the Technology Management Group. Mary Jo Morris, president of the Application Services Division within TMG, will become president of TMG.

In their new roles, Cofoni and Morris will report to Van Honeycutt, CSC's chairman, president and chief executive officer.

"Under Milt Cooper's leadership, CSC's Federal Sector has long been a prominent competitor in the federal information technology business," said Honeycutt. "We will build on his legacy of excellent performance for our federal clients and technology leadership as we go forward."

Cofoni joined CSC in 1991 after 17 years with General Dynamics Corp., Falls Church, Va. As president of TMG, Cofoni oversaw operations resulting in a doubling of CSC's commercial outsourcing revenue in the Americas, and he was instrumental in bringing innovative business solutions to clients such as United Technologies Corp. and Nortel Networks Corp., the company said.

CSC's Federal Sector supports U.S. federal government clients with two business groups, the Defense Group and the Civil Group, which provide all phases of information systems life-cycle development and support for federal departments and agencies. CSC's federal business had $2.4 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2000, which ended March 31, 2000.
