Navy Picks Two for $491 Million Contract

The Navy has selected Resource Consultants Inc. and AMSEC LLC for a five-year contract, potentially worth $491 million, to provide integrated installation support services for a wide range of Navy militarized and off-the-shelf systems.

The Navy has selected Resource Consultants Inc. and AMSEC LLC for a five-year contract, potentially worth $491 million, to provide integrated installation support services for a wide range of Navy militarized and off-the-shelf systems. The two companies will compete for task orders to provide services in engineering, installation, equipment fabrication, equipment modification, testing, inspecting, training, logistics, drawings, design, data processing and record keeping for all types of Navy command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems.RCI is based in Vienna, Va. AMSEC is located in Virginia Beach, Va., and is a partnership between Science Applications International Corp. of San Diego and Newport News Shipbuilding Inc. of Newport News, Va.Under the contract, the companies will support the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in San Diego, and provide integration services in San Diego, Bremerton, Wash., and Honolulu. Seventy percent of the work will be carried out in San Diego, with the remainder split evenly between the other two bases."We envision rigorous competition between the companies," said Jon Wester, a Navy contract specialist. "The task orders will be awarded on a ship-by-ship basis."This integrated installation contract provides the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center with the capability for one-stop shopping for the Navy's West Coast shore site and shipboard installation and technical support services for command and control systems.
